I know, you're not visiting this blog to read about me. I feel I need to tell you a little about myself though.
Born in rural Southwest Wisconsin. My first MLB game was at County Stadium, a long time ago, when the Brewers were still in the lowly American League. I got to see them play the Bash Bros. laden A's. Very cool. Thus, if there is such a thing as a second favorite team (and I struggle with the very thought of this), mine would be the Brew Crew. However, make no mistake...I bleed Cubby blue. My defection from the Brewers is an interesting story, of which I won't bother you with, unless you ask.
Before proceeding to frequent this blog, one more noteworthy fact about me: I DESPISE THE YANKEES. To me, they represent the very downfall of baseball itself. That said.........I married a die hard Yankees fan, who also happens to loath the Cubs. A match made in heaven right?
I'm no reporter. I'm no baseball expert. I'm not a Cub's groupie that follows they're every move. I do love the Cubs though, and above all else (yes, even the Cubs) I love baseball. In my mind, it is without a doubt, the single greatest sport man has ever devised. I'm not a religious man, but to me, baseball is a religious experience. I have a relentless job, I travel a lot for it, I have a life and rarely watch the news. This blog is managed by a true fan, who unfortunately can't watch every game, read every article and analyze every stat.
If anything like me, you find interest here. I'll have the blog open to comments and if there is interest, allow many of you to post here. I'm just looking for a place to shoot the breeze about the Cubs (and maybe other baseball related topics as well) since I obviously have no one in my house who shares even a passing interest.
SO...if you've stuck with me up to this point, it's well after the All-Star break, the Cubbies are finally playing up to their potential, and I'm happy as hell not having to listen to every Brewers fan in my office these days (I work in Racine, WI). Anyone disappointed to see Peavy in a White Sox uniform? Like I said before, I'm not always up on this stuff, but I didn't see this one coming. More to come...I have walleye to batter and fry.
